I have been a teacher for 17 years and have taught all levels from first through eleventh grades. My passion is math and I love helping students to unlock the puzzles of all areas of math. My most recent teaching and tutoring experience has been in middle and upper school. I have attended many math conferences focused on best teaching practices. My favorite was the conference held at Phillips Exeter Academy, one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the US. I was awarded the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholarship where I studied methodology for mathematics instruction.

Hobbies

I am an avid paddler and will paddle just about any kind of boat I can find. I am a member of the US National Dragon Boat Racing Team and have raced all over the world, most recently in Ravenna, Italy and Szeged, Hungary. I also paddle outrigger canoes and Panamanian cayucos. In April 2014 I paddled through the Panama Canal from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. I also love to travel and explore the world (though most of my travel is related to paddling races now!).
